Christians, a few questions about creation?

According to the Abrahamic creation story, Adam and Eve were immortal since their creation.

Then were the animals immortal as well? If they were immortal, how come many species have lived and died before the appearance of humans (ex. Dinosaurs). We know with certainty that they died out before humans came.

Also according to the story, Adam and Eve along with the rest of humanity, then became vulerable to disease and death. Then why do animals also suffer sickness and die? Man may have deserved punishment, but did the animals deserve it? They did nothing wrong at all. Why would God punish innocent animals, who were his creation as well? Did the Fall of Man affect the animals as well? You might say it doesn't matter anyway because animals don't have souls. So can a person abuse animals (e.g. dogfighting) and still get to heaven? What about for those of you that have pets? They supposedly do not have souls, but you still care for them right?

And if Adam and Eve existed, how would we know what race/color they were? And how would it explain the different races/colors humans have? Why are lighter-skinned people more tolerant to cold weather, while darker-skinned people are more tolerant to humid weather? Why do we have different eye colors? Why do certain races have certain eye colors? (never known of a black person with blue eyes lol) Why do different races have certain hair textures (most blacks have have curly black hair, other races don't) Why do Eastern Asians have eye structure than the others?

Please don't take offense, of course. I'm just asking questions.

Thanks for your responses.
Here's the verse, Sharkii,

Genesis 2:16-17
"You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die."
Leon Manso, so will when animals come together, will strict carnivores such as the wolf NOT feel compelled to eat the sheep?
