choosing mountain bike?

hey im looking at the Specialized Hardrock disc for a mountain bike. I was just wondering if it is a good bike. Its going to cost me like $500.. is there anything better for the same price? And i like doing wheelies.. and jumping. I like trail riding too so will this be good for that?

What about trek? Is Trek a good brand?
 
I have the P.2 All Mountain from Specialized, I think it's similarily priced to the HardRock, but will take more abuse. It's a nice bike. Trek makes good bikes as well, look also at Jamis, Giant.
