I'm a rising senior in high school, and I'm doing my best to get an early start on all the college fiasco I'm going to have to worry about. The problem is, I don't know what to do.
I want to apply Early Decision to one school, but I'm not sure which one. Early Decision helps in that my chances of getting accepted increase. The only bad thing is that it's binding, meaning if I get accepted but decide not to go, I cannot be admitted into the institution for whatever reason in the future.
I'm tied between two schools: Rice University and Boston University.
I live in Texas, so the comfortable thing to do would be to apply to Rice. But.... I've always seen myself in Boston, nowhere else. I'm planning to study electrical engineering.
With Rice:
1. Full Ride
2. Close to home
3. Prestigious school
With Boston:
1. Woo! I'm going to Boston!
Rice would be the smarter choice financially, but Boston is where my heart is. BU is a good school, and after all the research I've done, what can I say? I'm in love.
Is my love for the city and school a good enough reason to attend? Or am I better off being financially stable?
What do you think?
