Choosing a doctor

When I am selecting a specialist, I like to find a "top" doctor. This isn't the most important criteria, but I am impressed with a doctor who has been cited in articles, won awards/honors, etc. I can't seem to find the right "google" words to find such a doctor. I appreciate your responses.

I usually ask my doctors who they would send their family members to for a certain specialty. Then I call that doctor's office and ask for a copy of his/her "CV." That's what passes for a resume in the academic and medical circles. It's short for Curriculum Vitae. Then you can research the places they've studied, the fellowships,e tc that they've received, publications, etc.
