Choir director never gives me solos?

First off, I am in our high school's highest choir (Chamber Choir) which is only attained through audition, so I am not a bad singer at all. My style is very soulful, jazzy, gospel, however I feel deprived of getting solos. I spoke to him in the past, asking him what I needed to work on to get a solo, and all he told me was to keep trying. That was 2 years ago, I am now a senior in high school, and feel that the same people always get the solos. Even when the style of music is perfect for me, I always audition, hope to hear good news, but always hear the solos announced to other people. I am getting sick and tired of this, but it is the only choir that I have right now. What can I do about this, I feel the director plays favorites. The other members in the choir have classical voices and need soul/jazz music explained to them, which I find frustrating because if he would only really hear me, he would know. Any helpful advice?
