2 new songs from the album were leaked and are on torrentspy right now. They are both great: the second one is awsome but it's only the first 1:20 of the song.

Apparently Slash said that the album is going to be released in March.

I believe that Axl's insistence on using the G'N'R name is the root cause of his creative block for this album . If he admitted it is a "solo" project , I bet he'd be able to get it finished and released by the end of '06 . It seems like this record has become a bit of an albatross for Axl .

I think that's an understatement.

I agree with your other points, but Axel came to dominate the group creatively, especially for Use Your Illusion, and he was working on owning the name entirely himself even when the original group was mostly intacted. I think he felt the whole time that he owned GnR and now can't part with the name.
