im going to a birthday party today
but its a chinease all you can eat buffet
and unfortunately ive just started a diet.
is there anything that would be low in calories and good for me?

i normally eat rice, chow mein etc. are these healthy? :S

any other suggestions ?
thanks

I think you realise there is going to be no perfect answer hear, hun.

If you are on such a strict diet, then obviously a chinese all you can eat is simply a no-go.

Can't you just give it a rest for one day for the sake of the birthday person? It's no going to be fun if you sit their counting calories, and may dampen other peoples moods.

That's not to say you have to stuff yourself ridiculously. Try taking your time so your body has chance to recognise when it's full and enjoying chinese tea which is full of anti-oxidants.

Avoid anything fried if possible. Stick to rice and vegetable dishes, some chinese sauces are high sugar so maybe ask a waiter.

Pass on the ice cream dessert and head for fruit instead.

Have fun!

i have gone to the chinese buffet while dieting, still am dieting, and its good every once in a while to eat out, its not like your gonna gain a pound that fast!

Just Dont get any sweets, i know they have little cake pieces and stuff like that..

Get, Chicken, Any vegtables will be very low in calories.
get some shrimp thats good, just dont get the bread covered shrimp, get regular salted normal...

Uhm...Get a salad !! just watch what dressing u put on it!!
hey its a birthday party and if u really want to get a slice of cake, then just make it a small piece, like a half would split that huge calorie load
lets say one piece of cake would be 500, if u only eat half or a very *small* serving it'd only be about 240-ish...
JUST WATCH THE PORTION SIZES MKAy?
and don't kill urself too much ive been to the buffet while dieting, just be careful =D
