CHINA and INDIA go to war?

a person earlier asked a question about china and india preparing for war in 2017. I know china has been developing weapons, for anti access of the seas, to negate high tech navys. I know the Indian army is smaller but could be backed by the US while China would be backed by Russia possibly. on the other hand the US would be dumb to be on the opposite side as china do to the economic relations. Who wins this conflict if it doesnt go nuclear. who backs who. Why.
 
I dont think US/ russia will support either of them. India is a good ally of russia too so russia will never come in complete support of either of them. America might just leave india and china to fight it out because it can see its own gain considering the economic problems it is facing. It might go nuclear if fighting continues for a lot of time.
 
The US will just be on the sidelines in case of a war between the US and China since it wanted to protect its interests on both countries.
