I really want to find a little-known book that I read as a child in the early 90s, though it may have been published before then. I think it was called something like Please Yourself, and I think the author was Gerald something? I really can't be sure!
It was a collection of short stories, and I remember one being about Ernest the beetle who had a humming competition with the refrigerator, one about a tiger with horizontal stripes, one about a multilingual fish, one about an asp and a snakey, and a poem about a yak, with several others.
I've tried looking for it with so many keywords on Google but it seems it's untraceable!
