I have a Chevy G30 Van, went for a 5 miles drive, and its about 7 degrees F. The temperature gauge in the van was at the hottest point. When I pulled over the engine was steaming. It was also leaking, does that mean there wasn't any antifreeze. We just had the radiator replaced a few months ago. What do I do?
I guess it was leaking from the bottom left side of the radiator. I don't think they changed the thermostat.

if you didnt have any anti-freeze in your radiator then you could have blown the freeze plugs out of the engine block. then when you ran it all the fluid drained ut of the freeze plug holes.

first, refill the cooling system. check the radiator hoses for cracks, freys or splits. (upper and lower hoses)

second. check the transmission cooler lines (only if you have a built in cooler)

third. it could be that the drain pea cock was not closed all the way.

but thats only if you didn't have any coolant in the engine.

you may have had too strong of a mixture of water, and the water froze inside the radiator, preventing circulation, resulting in a overheated motor.

also, if water freezes in the radiator, it expands, and can cause cracks around the welds.

i personally think that it froze and you did not have any water ciruclating.
