chevy vacuum hose help?

Ok,i drove my car about two days ago no problem....just a minute ago i drove 5 minutes and my car was making a weird sound and I get hom and look and both vacuum hoses are off and the check engine soon light on...I let it run and the car started letting water out the radiator cap a little but it was tight....I am trying to figure out if this might hav ruined the car? its a 88 chevy baretta....when i put the hoses back on check engine light went off.....

I live in a high crime area...i wonder if someone tried to steal something? or what?

Basically iam looking for somee info...why it came off....itf it may have causes permanent problems?...if i need to replace anything...etc
