ok so i have a leak in my radiator. i know because i put about 3/4 of a jug of antifreeze in there and about half of that is gone now. the problem im having is locating it because it doesnt leak everytime i drive my truck. today i noticed it leaking after a drive down the street to the store. just a few minutes ago i let it run for about 10 minutes and never saw a drip at all on the ground and i took a flashlight and looked all around and under the truck. i can see where there is coolant on the frame but i couldnt locate a leak..so im wondering if anyone has any advice or have had this same type of problem? some people have recommended stop leak but i dont really want to put those tablets or liquid into my truck. im not sure if its totally safe. i could try buying a repair kit but i cant find the source of the leak as of yet. so im planning on driving it tomorrow for work where ill drive a total of about 80 miles throughout the day so im hoping i can find it then and it doesnt just go out or a hose burst and leave me stranded.

Any shop could find the leak in seconds with a cooling system pressure tester. You didn't give the year of your truck but on average a radiator is good for only 10 years with the best of service. They usually start leaking around the plastic expansion tanks on either end of the core. Inside the crimp there's a large O ring. Too bad too, GM decided to shut down the Harrison Radiator Factory in Lockport NY. Presently the cheapest off-shore bidder makes heater cores and radiators.

In the mean time you could go to Carquest and get a four pound Stant radiator pressure cap. The system wouldn't build so much pressure to force the coolant from the leak.
