i have a 2006 chevy cobalt, the coolant usually stays betwwn 190 and 200. usually 190 on the highways and goes up when i slow down, or come to stops etc. it will go up slowly to 194 tp 198 and eventually 200 but never really exceeds 200..... is this normal
so it should stay around 190 and shouldnt go up???

Typical chevy vehicles. I used to have one myself and I found out the first things to go, is usually a head gasket or water pump. First and foremost the basics, check and see if there is enough coolant.
Could be as simple as cleaning out the coolant system, there might be dirt and grime in the system or could be the thermostat went bad already. It could also be that the water pump went bad and needs to be replaced.
