I have a 2006 Chevy Colorado Z71 2wd with an auto locking rear differential what is this? What's the difference between this and limited slip? Auto locking rear differential is that good for off road, on road or both? I don't thank this is right but a friend told me that it is a forum of 4 wheel drive?
I checked and it dose have the Eaton rear-end G80 code

Don't be fooled, it's definately NOT a form of 4wd. It's just a form of limited slip that helps on slick surfaces.

Auto locking is a type of diff that locks both axles together automatically preventing them from rotating at different speeds. A limited slip is a diff that limits the slip between axles, but doesn't fully lock them together. a gm locker isn't a bad unit. All units have some sort of ups and downs. limited slips are good on road but have limitations off, lockers are better off, but don't work as well on. a gm locker is about as close to 50 50 as it gets.
