Chevy Blazer Speaker questions?

I have a 2000 chevy blazer 4 door and the only speaker that seems to be working is the front right.. I dont think the dash speakers need to be changed but i want to change the 4 speakers on the doors, even the one that works..do i still have to change the dash speakers? What are some good speakers to replace the factory speakers with? the door speakers are 6-1/2". Do I have to change the head unit to an aftermarket or can i keep the stock cd player? are there any guides online to help me through opening the door panels and also removing the old CD player? I know crutch fields has it but I want a free guide lol.
