Whats with my truck? It's got a 350 long block, I had both heads redone. I had one shaved but not the other. I put new head gaskets on bothem of them. New carb edelbrock carb. New fuel filter, plus new fuel pump. It runs, but it backfires off and off. Right now Im running with open headers, but thats not the reason of it backfiring. Could it possible be my valves making it backfire? I thought I did it like my repair manual said. And yes, my timing is correct, so thats not the problem.

Run a compression test on it. That will tell you if the valve timing is off. It could very well be the ignition timing or crossed plug wires. Go back and double check all your work. Usually if it's your valves it will make a puffing sound, not an actual back fire.
