OK i don't get this part in my anatomy book about chemical bonds here's the excerpt:
"What about atoms that have more than 20 electrons, in which the energy levels beyond shell 2 can contain more than eight electrons? the number of electrons that can participate in bonding is still limited to a total number of eight. The term valence shell specifically indicates an atom's outermost energy level or that portion of it containing the electrons that are chemically reactive. Hence, they key to chemical reactivity is the octet rule.
just need an example to help clarify this.
