You out 2cm of CuSO(4) • 5H(2)O in a test tube. You slowly heat the test tube. You let the test tube cool until you feel no more heat. Then you use a eye dropper and add 3 or 4 drops of water.
Reaction #1: The CuSO(4) • 5H(2)O is blue to start with and gradually turns white with heating. Drops of liquid form around the neck of the test tube.
Reaction #2: The white solid turns blue when a few drops of water are added. The test tube gets warmer after the water is added.
