In a lab in school, I had to find out an unknown substance, which has a metal and a non-metal component. It was a white powder. A flame test (putting it over a bunsen burner) produced no results. With 1.0 mol of Hydrochloric AAcid, it bubbled vigorously. With 1.0 mol of Sodium Hydroxide, it turned the substance into a cloudy liquid. The unknown substance and the sodium hydroxide put over a bunsen burner caused the substance to bubble and shoot out of the test tube. Adding BaCl2 and Hydrochloric Acid to the unknown substance made it turn milky white, and then with a flame test it bubbled. What is this substance?
