In the ionisation reaction:
SO2(g) + H2O(l) --> HSO3-(aq) + H+ (aq)
Why does the sulfur dioxide gain one hydrogen AND one oxygen ion?
I though proton transfer between an acid and base involved only a hydrogen ion (one proton)
