1) A solution containing Fe(NO3)3 is mixed with a solution containing NaOH. Write the complete balanced equation for the reaction that occurs, and identify the precipitate.

2) Write the net ionic equation for the reaction.

3) After the filtrate is collected from the reaction, a few drops of NaOH are added to the filtrate. The result is a precipitate. What are the ions present in the filtrate?

I got the first two parts:
1) Fe(NO3)3(aq) + 3NaOH(aq) --> 3NaNO3(aq) + Fe(OH)3(s)
Fe(OH)3 is the precipitate.

2) Fe3+ + 3OH- --> Fe(OH)3(s)

But i m confused in the 3rd......can anybody help me with this?
Thanks.

3) If there is a precipitate with the filtrate from 1) then there must have been some Fe3+ left unreacted. In that case, Fe(OH)3(s) is the new precipitate and Na+ and NO3- ions are left in the filtrate.
