Is anybody else annoyed by the patterns that emerge as you browse this chemistry forum? For example, if you really want to get a lot of answers to your question, change your profile picture to that of a young girl; the yahoo cartoon avatars aren't going to score you any additional hits.
How about this one? Why do so many people title their questions "Easy chemistry question?" If it is so easy, and it sometimes is and sometimes isn't, why can't the asker answer it themselves?
What about the people that copy questions directly from some online quiz? The dead give-away is that the question has a number in front of it, which often is not "1." Even worse is when they simply post a link to a picture of the question, or directly to their online quiz!
How about when some answer that is incorrect is chosen as best? All you really have to do to get your answer picked as best is assure the asker that "I would know, I have a Ph.D. in chemistry." Frequently, the answerer can't even spell Ph.D. I've been a T.A. for several chemistry courses, and when I see a legitimate question I try to help out. But when I see an answer that I would mark wrong chosen as best, it drives me crazy! Askers can't just take the answer that has the most "qualifications" listed under resources without even thinking about the answer.
I think what it boils down to is this: people don't think anymore. Thoughts?
