During the electrolysis of molten aluminum chloride, 5.40g of solid aluminum is produced at the cathode of the cell. How much chlorine is produced at the anode?
I dont know the equation...but I'll give you the reducing equations of both, and the net equation.
Al3+ + 3e- ---> Al(s)
Cl2 + 2e- ---> 2Cl-
2Al3+ + 6Cl- ---> 2Al(s) + 3Cl2(g)
