Hello,

I am new to this board, and would like to post a message for other people that have this condition. I have a 2mm bugling disk at L5-S1 with an annular tear that is centrally located protruding on the secal sac of my spine, I have been diagnosed with Chemical Radiculitus. I have been having sciatic pain constantly on my rt leg and foot, occassionally i have it on my left leg as well. My question is will this heal on its own, also I get pain in groin area and of course my back constantly hurts, and upper back near the ribs is this part of the refferred pain from the leaking chemicals? The pain gets to 6-7 at its worst and I have a refferal for an epidermal cortisone shot next week, i was told that this could reduce the bugle of my disk and flush out any neurotoxins from the chemicals leaking from the bad disk. Just looking for positive outcomes from having this condition. BTW I have been doing PT the past month, as well as traction which has helped the most with this condition.

Thanks

Ok, was hoping to get some responses b4 I head out to my appointments later this week. Well I realize that the outcome of your back condition has some coerelation to your perspective of the outcome, if you opt out just for surgery then what ever methoRAB you try may not work for you, of course there are exceptions to the rule, that surgery is a must in cases like Caudia Equina, or some failed procedures, but the mind set plays a huge role in recovery. I have been very depressed over this condition, I have 2 bum knees, a groin strain, costochondritis, and bilateral sciaticia from this Chemical Radicuilitus. With a herniated disk which mine is partially herniated, nerve compression can be relieved by a microscemity, but with Chemical Radicuilitus its the disk that is ripped causing the inflamation on the nerves. Anyways I have had a therapist attempting to rehab me tell me there was nothing left he can do for me. Prior to this injury, I was a relatively health strong middle age man that would bench 250pnRAB, squat 250pnRAB, and curl 135pnRAB. I would always work out my abs and back with every workout. Unfortunately no matter how strong you physically are lifting with bad mechanics puts your disks at risk thus my story. Well thanks for reading, I sometimes wish I wouldn't have to go this pain, but I do know as my knees that God has an answer for this condition, and looking back to past will never resolve what you are currently enduring. Word from experience, if you ever have someone tell you that your a lost cause and they feel like giving up on you, let that there be a motivation to prove them wrong, I have done this with my knees once in a wheel chair, and looking to hopefully fully recover from this back issue.
