Chemical Burn in the Anus Area?

My fiance is an electrian and was working on the job Friday when he used the bathroom on site, not sure if it was a porta potty or what, but he had to go #2 if you will. Upon doing his duty a splash came up and well hit his anus area..... he later experienced severe itching. He had no idea where this came from, he had thought he didn't wash all the soap from that area during his shower that morning.. thinking he had a reaction to the soap. It later dawned on him what had happened that morning on the job site. He found some cortizon cream and used that, but that didn't seem to help- and he said the area was spreading. He saw the Dr. yesterday (Monday) and he couldn't determine what was wrong and gave him some type of cream and antibiotics. Today (Tue) he says it is worse, it has spread and there are now blisters!

Anyone have any experience with anything like this? Could this indeed be a chemical burn in his anus area? If so, what can he do about it? He called back the Dr.s office but no one has called him back yet. He is MISERABLE!!

Wow. That's another reason not to use those port-a-potties! They are chemical toilets, but I have never heard of the chemicals splashing up so far! Maybe it was quite full and due for an emptying.
With the blistering, I would say it's most likely a chemical burn. With any bad burn, he runs the high risk of infection in the wounds. He really needs to get some medical care for this, even though he might be reluctant to be seen. I dont know how the doc would treat the burns and keep the area clean. Often a silvadene cream is used to make a sterile barrier and perhaps they can set him up with something like a sitz bath like women use after labor to keep the bottom clean. If it were me, I'd tell the doc just what happened and get some medical help. It could get much worse if left untreated. Good luck!

Thanks for your reply :) He did see the Dr. yesterday and he did explain what he thought it might have been but the dr. didn't really respond to it. He was given some cream, I will need to search it and again given antibiotics none of which seem to have helped yet as it is getting worse. I can't believe that is what it actually is, but it has to be that! He said it was about a 3ft. drop down? I will let him know he must see the Dr. again. Thanks again

Yes I am guessing it is chemical burns and who knows what your doctor is thinkin. Did your boyfriend actually tell the doctor he was splashed with the toilet chemicals?(sometime men just say nothing and think the doctor is going to figure it out) Your boyfriend will need a pain medicine as well...try some over the counter Ibuprophen(motrin) but if that doesn't help ask the doc for something stronger while you are waiting for doc to call back.
