Checklist and evaluation for wet car?

flash flood over highway 17. 3 feet deep. tried to keep momentum and make it through. no dice car died. water was not coming in the seals of the doors so I jumped out the window and my wife drove while I pushed it out of the water. it was only in 2-3 feet of water for a couple minutes. AAA towed it home. I charged the battery overnight. The engine groans but will not turn over. I am looking for a methodical list to check things out. Thanks
