I replaced battery from Advance auto and they checked the alternator to be working fine. In a couple of days the check engine light starts coming on. Took it back and they pulled P1135 code (A/F sensor bank 1 sensor 1). They reset the code and it came back on after a few days. I noticed that the code only comes on whenever I turn on A/C. It shows up after the 5 to 10 minutes of turning on the A/C. If I stop using the A/C the check engine light does not show after I guess driving for 100 miles. Took to another shop and they put on Alternator tester. It showed a drop in voltage from 14.7 to around 13 volt (the weak zone) whenever full electric load was put on the car by turning on Lights and A/C. His diagnosis is that either alternator is bad and cannot handle the electric load OR A/C is drawing too much current and overloading the system causing the engine to run bad and affecting the A/F mixture and hence the oxygen sensor. He also recommended to change the sensor right away (which I think is symptom not the cause). How I make sure whether it is alternator or A/C causing this problem or they not related to Check Engine light altogether.
I am pretty sure the battery is correct size. How do you make sure the battery is connnected cleanly. Furthermore is it possible to take car to a shop get the A/C checked for any problems?
