oil gage goes crazy ? when I'm driving the car. Could it just be broke? I took it to a mechanic and he said it's the throttle position sensor? I have about $1,000 to spend either to fix this car or I can buy another cheap car. The car also needs a few wheel bearings and a new battery or alternator because it sometimes doesn't start. (Haven't had that checked yet) It does have almost 200,000 miles on it, but other than this I've had the car for almost 5 years & have put hardly no money into it yet. What would you do? Fix it or buy a new used car.
The throttle position sensor is supposed to be what's causing the car to die when driving slow. That is $300, the wheel bearing is $300, a new battery or alternator up to $100 and the oil gauge I have no idea?? Total would be only $700 plus labor? I agree that at least I know what's wrong w/ the Buick & a new used car could be even more problems!
