Check engine light came on a 2000 Ford Expedition xlt?

ok so i was driving maybei 30 mph and the check engine light came on and stayed on but when i got to my destintiation ( I turned the Truck off and turned it back on after 20 minutes da lite wouldnt come on and guages did not move from the the off position when the key was turned half way) when the car is fully on (moter running) the guges dunt come up until 30 -40 seconds and this neva happened its due for Tune up at 110thousand miles but its at 109589 plz help its a 2000 FOrd Expedition XLT it never had any problems of any sort but only a heater core when owning this truck

what can be the cause plz help ?
