Chatting etiquette: should the person who comes online start the

conversation, or the person already online? I'm usually the one already online, and the other person comes online. I really want to talk to them but I don't always want to be the one to start the convo. It's like both of us are waiting for one to start, and usually one or the other ends up starting the convo, and if none of us says hi and he goes offline i usually end up regretting it and thinking I should have just said hi. Lol. so anyways, what is the etiquette regarding it? should the person who comes online say hi, or the person who was already online? :)
