Can a charter school that is receiving public education benefits under title I have unlicensed teachers working at their schools? I just found out that my daughters Kindergarten teacher is not licensed but they said that because it is a charter school that it is ok. However, I was under the impression that because it is receiving money from the department of education that it has to follow the same rules and regulations as other public schools? In addition to this, I volunteered one day in my daughters class and it just so happened that the teacher was out sick all week. They had the paraprofessional teaching the class. She is not licensed only as an assistant, is this legal? My daughter starts a new school next week because this just seems all to fishy to me. Thank You.
