Historians have argued over the importance of the religious tensions that Charles and Laud implemented during the War of the three Kingdoms, although I agree it was an important factor with the Scots, I am not convinced that it was the main reason for the Irish and English. For the English, his dissolving of parliment and imposition of personal rule, taxes, forestry rules etc.. For the Irish, the planters and the Olde English threat of losing lands held for many years. Would this be fair to argue?
Also could someone help me with this question, I do not want an answer to it, just help with its understanding.
'What role did religious belief play in the negotiations between Charles I and his subjects' My problem is with negotiatios, I thought Charles gave orders and thought himself above negotiating with his subjects? I have to consider the relative importance of R belief to the outbreak of the civil war, the 30yrs war, taxes etc.. and use two primary sources from an anthology.
