Charged for using WIFI on cellphone?

I got a new cellphone recently and have used to its "Wifi" abilities to go on and google, and check my email a couple of times. I connected to the internet a few times like this.

Now, I was under the impression that your cellphone provider is not supposed to charge you for WIFI usage since you are not using their data plan...but they charged me for "internet data usage."

...was I wrong or what is this? do some providers charge you for using WIFI?

depends on the company you have you should of read the terms and conditions

I would call your cellphone provider because cellphone companies tend to hide charges like that.
