Characters whose deaths angered you

Hey y'all,

In the various animes y'all like, have there been any characters whose deaths actually angered you? And on a related note, characters the writers keep alive when they obviously deserve to bite the dust?

I know there's more examples, but these are just my favorites:

Naruto: Shippuden. So far, half the neat villains have died.
Sasori, Hidan, Kakuzu and Itachi
got to me in particular. None of them, though, will have me nearly as angry as Kisame's death will.

And whom I think deserves death right now?

....you're all going to hate me for this....

Sasuke.

Gundam SEED

If you don't know about Flay Allster, then were have you been? Anywho, Flay's death got me so riled up that I never wanted to see Rau's face should I go into a frothing rage.

Flay was the most developed and realistic character on the show. I actually felt for her, and wondered what would happen to her! She was the only reason why I kept on watch SEED.

And they just kill her off. To this day I still don't want to watch the last episode because of this.

Although, there has been some good coming out of this. As if to apologize for killing off Flay, the've put clones of her in every subsquent Gundam series.

Gundam 00

Nena Trinity. I took it so hard I actually erased my avatar, sig, and locations and put . It current caused my current shift to "Darker and Edgier" look.

Ok, Nena was a sociopath, but considering her origins, I actually liked her. She wass a cute, crazy, and had the body of Fllay and voiced by Meyrin's VA. That and she seemed to be a interest character. Heck, the Pacific is divided about their feelings for her, with Japan loving her and the West thinking she sucks.

It also got me to thinking about such characters: are they responsible for their actions if they've been concieved (literally) to commit atrocities? Should we hate someone for that?

But anyways, the day Nena died, i took it worse than Fllay's. I was so angry at Louise, a girl going through a psychological breakdown and genetic mutation, that I actually wished she lost her other arm. I got bummed out for a good week because of this character death.

...

Lousie, you *CENSORED*

Narutaru:
Tsurumaru Takeo: It's not so much his death itself but, that his death made absolutely no sense. How could he die from a gun shot when a couple chapters before that, he took one (at point-blank range) and didn't even flinch? I get that it was necessary to push Mamiko over the edge but, still...

Code Geass is full of characters that deserved to die that the writers kept alive. Nina, Ougi, Cornelia, Geno, Anya, etc. Seriously, I was waiting throughout all of R2 to see Anya get killed and it never happened. What a waste.

The guy who started this thread: FGFan. You see his avatar? Yeah...damn near every character killed by the guy in his avatar were deaths I did not take kindly to (especially L's.)

What, no mention of Villetta?

Gantz

Nishi. Yeah, the kid was a monster and a jerk but that's why I liked him so much. I was both surprised and upset that he was killed off so quick. I initially believed he was going to be a recurring main character but I didn't realize until the next arc just how relentless and no holRAB barred the series was. Fortunately, he comes back in the manga.

Dunno if I've been angered recently by the death of a character. If it's a war story, well, as far as I'm concerned anyone is a viable target at any time and if you ever get the feeling as if characters have some kind of plot imunity then that spoils the story a bit, like the deaths of others don't really matter cause the story isn't based in any sort of reality.

However, I have been angered by a couple of deaths who got better. It almost ruined the whole series for me too.

Gundam 08th MS team (Lotta gundams on here... huh).

Yeah well obviously if you've seen it you know what I'm talking about but Shiro and Aina's miraculous survival just bugged the hell out of me. Not just the physical imposibility of it, but you can't make a heroic sacrifice and then not die. I mean, that's not a heroic sacrific anymore, it's something else and when the series estensibly enRAB on that heroic sacrifice to then turn around and retcon it in some bizare tacked on epilogue episode... Uh... And I loved 08th ms team for it's reality too, the only gundam I've ever seen where I could almost justify seeing huge mecha stomping around the battle field blowing each other up... Guuuuh that pissed me right off. Anyways...

Seeing Ougi being killed by Kallen will be a bad enough fate for her. Yes, in my version of the Code Geass ending, Kallen joins Zero when the Black Knights betray him.

I agree, even though the way he died was noble,I still think they shouldn't have killed him like that, since he was an awesome character who made me laugh alot...

Also in Fushigi Yuugi,I didn't like that they killed off
Hotohori,Chiriko, and Mitsukake... I liked all of the "Suzaku 7"
it was a shame to see any of them go...

InuYasha manga....
Kagura...I liked her and would've rather seen her live and join Sesshomaru's group to take revenge on Naraku
...Hasn't reached that point in the anime yet,but presumably it'll be there........

In the manga The Lucifer and Biscuit Hammer, i hated that the dog knight died, he was like my favorite character up to that point (it was pretty early in the manga), the way he died was just not worthy of him either.

This is easy.

Martian Successor Nadiesco

Gai Daigoji
Not only was he one of the best characters, but he was replaced by three walking cliches and the worst characters in the series.

That hurt.

Samurai 7 -
Kikuchiyo. Why!? Why did you have to make Komachi cry!? ;_;
FMA - C'mon you know who it is and why and for that matter in regarRAB to people that should die.
Envy. I dunno why a punk like him always lives through everything and keeps his smug demeanour. He neeRAB to be taken down a few pegs.

Code Geass:

Shirley's death was where I pretty much gave up on the series. They reduced her from someone with an interesting connection to the protagonist to an utter joke of a character, then suddenly make her relevant again... so that they can kill her an episode later as a cheap way of causing him emotional distress. Well, if the show isn't going to respect its characters, I don't really need to respect the show, either.

Gundam SEED:

Fllay, again, for kind of the same reasons as Shirley... except that Fllay's development was better throughout the series, and her death felt like the writer just went "aw darn, can't think of a way to fit her into the perfect Kira/Lacus dynamic we have going. Welp, better contrive a way to kill her off."

Aura Battler Dunbine:
Everybody. Everybody who dies after Todd, in any case.

News flash: characters dying does not make a series better. Least of all when you kill all the characters in order to force an ending to a series that's been treading water for a third of its running time.

And Lacus Clyne neeRAB to die. Least appropriate setting for a Mary Sue character... ever?

For me, I only have two for the moment.

FMA

Hughes's death! I remeraber cursing and crying at my TV Screen when that happened on Adult Swim the first time it aired.

Death Note
L's Death. L was my favorite character and seeing him go like that was kind of a kick in the balls for me. It also helps that L is my favorite character in Death Note.

Samurai 7:
Kyuzo. Calm, cool, collected.
Dam you Katsu and your need to pick up a gun over a sword!!!! I hated you after that .....

*S7 was the only one that "angered" me. The other two mostly gave me that "now why did you have to go and do something like that?" feeling.

Code Geass
Shirley. I'd have to go with her. She gets her memories back and everything and accepts Lelou even though his actions killed her father. And even after that her murderer, Rolo, still got something of a "heroic" death .....

Last Exile
Alex. Really didn't see that one coming. I was visualizing that in the series finale him and Sophia would be together still commanding the Silvana. Alas they destroyed the enemy ship before rescuing their commander.

Sonic X:

Cosmo. It made me both sad and angry when I first heard it, and in a way half-surprised, technically, she didn't die, but sacrificed her frienRAB to save them. I guess the animators felt that she shouldn't continue to be with them, so in a way, I was glad that they didn't make a 4th season because it just wasn't fair. I mean, Cosmo was the last of her species (I call her Seedran, a name some fans have used), which makes this even more sad, really.

Even after 3 to 5 years since that happened, Cosmo is still one of my most favourite anime characters, you just can't hate her, no matter how you try. And it even couldn've been awesome if she was able to be a video game character, but Sonic Team is too "smart" to do that. She would be referenced 2 times on the Sonic X comic, though, so it's better than nothing, I guess.

In Naruto:

Asuma

Since he was the only character that I liked in the series, which is the major reason I'm starting to keep the series at arm's length. In fact, that's where the series ended for me, and it just feels like every time I read it, it's just trailing off in every direction.

I will never get why the Code Geass fans complain about the death of
Shirley. I hated that stupid brat, along with the majority of Ashford and even the cast beyond that. Geass is full of characters who deserved to die but were kept alive/brought back for stupid reasons.
