I currently have Nextel and have been thinking of switching to Verizon for better coverage when I go to southern Indiana. Currently Nextel is a hit and miss service there and I either have to be at the Casino or cross the river into Kentucky to get a good signal just so I can make a call.

I am trying to figure out which would be the best phone to get when I switch to Verizon. I have been looking at the Motorola Krave or the Samsung Omnia but am open to just almost any phone.

I have been looking into a touch screen but will consider something else. I am wanting to use it for the net when on vacation so I can keep up with my sites and check my email and such and maybe one I could hook up to my laptop and use it as a modem.

I'm just not sure what would be the best phone to get as I don't know much about Verizon as I have had Nextel for several years.

you will need a data plan with an omnia
its 30, or 45 if you want to tether it

although there is software out there to free tether with the 30 plan

I had looked a the blackberry storm but wasn't sure how good it was since its a fairly new phone. Right now I can most any Verizon phone free with a new 2 yr contract but would have to pay for the blackberry storm which is no prob if that's the best way to go.

I had noticed also when I was looking over the plans and phones last night that on some of the plans the net is included depending on which phone you go with and on others you the net is xtra. I'm going to be getting 3 phones with the net on 2 of them and need at least 1400 minutes I guess as that's how many minutes I have now.

nextel and vzw minutes are diff.
with vzw you get free nights and weekends, as well as free calls to all other vzw customers. it really cuts down on your use of minutes

Well I went with 2 of the Motorola Krave phones. I wanted to go with the blackberry storm but just didn't have the extra cash for it.

I'm just hoping these phones work good and do the job till I can get the blackberry storm in a couple of months but by that time they will probably have a few new phones out to replace it.

Thanks for all the input and I hope I get better service with Verizon then I did with Nextel.
