Changing out the Redline

Why don't you shoot the fine folks at redline an email and let them know the problems you are having. Maybe they can shed some light on what your mechanic is telling you is an oil problem. They use this stuff in 6000 hp dragsters, with excellent results, so I would to be inclined to maybe look to see if your mechanic is installing it wrong. And enjoying taking your money to replace it over and over again. This is assuming he is charging you every time it goes bad. Just because he is a mechanic doesn't mean he isn't doing it wrong.

Are you sure the mechanic put the seal in right? I've seen some top Mechanics install oil seals backwards. I've even heard them argue about which side goes in first. The lip that seals against the shaft has to face the oil side. They can be put in wrong and hold for awhile. I think Dawg said he drilled the housing that the shaft goes through and installed a grease fitting. Must be a oilite bushing behind the seal. I'm like the others, I don't think it was the Redline Oil. My tranny is shifting smooth with the Redline.

I should take a picture of the Amsoil I just dumped out of my engine tonight after only 4200 miles. It's BLACK! I'm putting Mobile1 15/50 back in.

That seal has been upgraded a few years back. Is your wrench using the new type seal? I would go with the Cometic seal. It's not the gear oil.

If they're using stock Harley seal, it's crap! Well...at least the one in my '05 was. It's a weak ass, thin metal stamped ring with a rubber lip barely thicker than a "c" hair. It's born to fail.

Install a cometic or SKF seal (that's the one I used), installed over a greased shaft with splines covered in electrical tape and you're good to go.

The bike is covered with the ESP so two different dealers have been doing the work. You guys are probly right about it not being the oil.
Dropped it off yesterday but they still have to get authorization to do the work so wont have it till the end of next week.
I will contact them ask them to look beyond the seal and shaft.
Thanks.

Say it's not true! People here didn't believe me when I brought it up. I will never use Amsoil again!
