changing fish tank water?

even if i put that stuff in the water to make tap water safe for fish do i still have to leave the water out for a day before putting it in? and someone pleas answer my question about convict cichlids.. first correct answer gets best answer thingy

it's safer for the fish if you do, but you don't have 2. if your only putting in a gallon or so to a 25 gallon tank just because it needs water than you can just put it in without waiting, but if your filling up the whole tank than wait a few hours or overnight.
