I'm looking at changing careers. After almost 7 years of working in an office, I just can't do it anymore. I've worked in 3 different positions and hated all of them. I realize more every day that the parts of the job I love are away from the computer and working directly with people.
So, I'm looking to change careers from a program manager to a preschool teacher. I make really good money now and when/if I start my new career (after going back to school), my pay will be cut by more than 60%.
Is it worth it? My friends and family aren't supportive in my decision because of how much money I make now. Going back to school and basically starting over in my career will also delay other plans like buying a home with my boyfriend.
I would love any advice you can give me. Personal experiences would also be great. It's hard to do this without the support of my friends and family, so I just don't know if it's the right decision. Thank you!
