Thanks everyone for the replies and well wishes. I had a bad day today and as you can see not sleeping well tonight. Still too soon to see a big change in the infection with the new medicine but boy does the medicine make me sick at my stomach. I had to go and have some lab work done this morning and I was having a terrible time walking. I can't get comfortable at all right now and hate to think what it will be like when I have the next surgery. I finally just piled a bunch of pillows around me to get comfortable.

I am still getting the sharp pains in my abdomen and burning pain, also. Maybe tomorrow will bring a better day for all of us.

Hugs
Linda

Sorry I haven't been on this week but haven't been feeling too good this week. I had the first of my two surgeries on Jan.29th and wasn't having a very good recovery. My incision became infected and I have felt bad so I went to the surgeon's office yesterday in Nashville. They are going to start me on another round of different antibiotics and they have postponed my second surgery until Feb.18th. I go back to see them next Thursday and they will make sure everything is okay. They said they felt it was a superficial wound infection but they will not do my other surgery until this is cleared up. I was told to let air get to the incision as much as possible and keep it dry. So I guess I have permission to stay in my gown all day. Hope everyone has a good weekend and feel better.

Linda

Hi Linda,

I'm sorry you're having such a rough time with the first surgery. I know you'd just like to be done with the whole episode rather than trying to keep your mood up and your attitude positive for another round of surgeries.

As I'm sure you know but it is worth repeating: you need to really be careful with that incision and be sure you get the infection totally cleared up. The last thing you need is for the infection to travel into the bone. So follow the doctor's orders exactly, take your meRAB exactly as prescribed and keep that incision clean, dry and exposed to the air.

I hope you are feeling better soon.

Take good care,

xx Marlo ;)

Hi kyma, you one brave gal,how you do it?Hope you get better,it stinks.I don't feel good myself, but again didn't do surgery either.you been feeling sick to tummy?from meRAB or surgery?you have nerve pain too

I hope you feel better soon. I know some antibiotics are almost worse than the sickness. I will keep you in my prayers and by the way February 18th is a great day! Its my birthday. Take Care, Dee

Hi Linda,

((((((((HUGS))))))))

I'm sorry you're feeling yucky. It does go with the territory. :( Hopefully getting the infection under control will help make you feel a little better. At least it wasn't put off too far, but I know you'd like to just have this behind you. We're here, rooting for you with all our might! Post when you feel up to it.

Hope you're able to get some good rest.
Take care,
Emily

Hi Linda,
Sorry you're not feeling better yet. :( I hope you turn a corner soon.

I slept with many pillows for a long time. It really helps to have something there to hold you up. Until you're in pain and it hurts to move, you don't realize the muscles you use to just stay in one position, like on your side. As my incisions bacame less painful, I learned how to flip that pillow between my knees as I turned so it would be under both so I could be on my back for a while, and then between my knees again facing the other direction when it was time to turn again. It can be quite an art, positioning those pillows just right!

Are you nauseous sick to your stomach, or heartburn sick to your stomach? Can you take an antinausea med? Or eat a cracker or two if it's heartburnish?

Hope you can rest.
Emily

Good evening or NO it is morning!!!! The nausea is caused by the new antibiotic they put me on and they also gave me medicine for the nauseau but doesn't take care of it all the time.

Apocalypto22 I do have nerve pain and I take Lyrica but it doesn't really help so I will probably stop it because no sense taking the medicine if it doesn't help. One strange thing about my nerve pain is before my surgery I had sciatic pain on the left but now after first surgery I have severe pain on the right and nurabness on the right shin. The surgeon told me that when they put the cage in they were able to raise 3/4 of an inch. It only makes sense that there is pain but it just doesn't make it any better.

Dee maybe Feb.18th is a good luck sign for me since that is also your birthday. Also, my sister-in-law is named Dee and she is such a sweetheart and I am lucky to have her as a "sister" and I am lucky to have all of you.

Hey Emily I know what you mean about all those muscles. I find myself stuck in one position at night and it takes me forever to get turned over and having pain all the time while moving. Today I have been having trouble with the nerve pain down my right butt when I sit down. Even when I walk and put weight on my right foot then it causes the shooting pain, also. I am getting so stiff and I have cried several times this weekend because of the pain. I can't even imagine how I am going to feel when they put the roRAB and screws in since I feel so bad right now. My abdomen incision does look better today and is not draining so the antibiotics are working. I am still running a slight fever but better then last week.

I want to thank all of you again because I am so thankful to have all of you that understand. Good night to everyone and hopefully a good night's sleep.

Linda
