A soft footfall, a creaking board, a rustle and a breeze
A thump unexplainable, a distant shriek, unease
Maybe there be ghosts tonight or demons straight from hell
Maybe they'll come for me and come for you as well

Maybe this is the night ye die, or maybe this be mine
Or perhaps ye'll live and put yet another day behind
But ghosties scare the dogs and demons chase the cats
The moon is hanging low and the sky is filled with bats

It is, of course, October, harbinger of winter's cold
When nights are mostly clear and stars are bright and bold
Tis the season best for bond fires, marshmallows on a stick
And when tiny goblins extort a treat by threatening a trick.
HH - you're too cool! LOL back at cha.

From hell, straight to softball, a breeze on creaking board
demons and ghosts and a pirate's hoard
come for me, unexplained and with a shreik
(It's not even October until next week)

Maybe an unexplained rustle, a thump in the well
come to me tonight and maybe, who can tell?
Cat chases ghosties while dogs scare demons
the moon is hanging, things aren't as they're seemin'

"Trick or treat," the miniature goblins' cry
harbinger of who will live and who will die.
October nights, the cold tells tabby "Scat!"
Perhaps I might just turn into a bat!
