I have been working on a few web programming projects and teaching myself as I go. I have been using PHP but I have heard CGI and Perl getting thrown around a lot. What kind of stuff can CGI and Perl do that PHP can't? I would assume that since they are all server side languages that they all have the same capabilities. Is it just a matter of preference?
