I had a cervical laminectomy 4 days ago. The pain I had before is pretty much gone, however I am now experiencing neck and upper back pain (which I know is to be expected) my question is how long should this last and what other pains should I expect. I know what my Dr. says but I would like to hear from people who have experienced this personally. And how long were you out of work?

Elle - I think you'll find more of us Cervical laminctomies on the spine board. It's been a while so frankly I don't remeraber all the details but I do remeraber having misc pains including shooting pain in the arms after surgery. I own my own business so I took almost no time off. I stayed home about three weeks and then went in part time for a while. I wasn't comfortable driving for about two months. Please post on the spine board what led to your laminectomy.

Hang in there - nerves, especially the central spine takes a long time to heal. Plan on at least a year until you feel near to normal - it took about two years for me to roll over in bed "naturally"

Thanks for the info. I own my own biz also and hope to be back in about 3 weeks although it is a very physical job so we'll see
