Certified vs private party Honda Accord?

OK, the one from private party (which the guy swears has had all scheduled maintenance, etc) is $1500 less than a similar Certified Accord from dealer. I can buy Hondacare warranty for $1k or so and come out a couple hundred bucks ahead of the game....would get the private party car inspected by inspection service. Which would you do?
