I want to make my own plugs for stretched ears out of clay and fire them. I know you can buy ceramic plugs at some places, but would it be safe to make my own? I would make sure they are the correct size and everything. The glaze that my school uses is dinnerware safe so you can eat or drink off whatever you use it on, but would it be safe if they were in my ears? I don't want to risk damaging my ears in any way, especially if I can avoid it. Is there anything that I could put over the glaze after the plugs are fired to make it safe? The only other question like this I found on here said put PTFE tape over the inner part of the plugs. Would that be the best way to go?
