Cellphone mic not working correctly?

My roommate's cellphone suddenly stopped working today. It was working fine a couple of hours ago, but now when she makes a phone call whoever is on the other end cannot hear her. At first I could hear her a little, it just felt like a bad connection. However, now I can't hear her at all.

I was just wondering if there could be a simple solution to this problem or if it's just broken.
