Cell phone plan question?? please answer (us cellular)?

I pay for 300 MB of data a month on US Cellular. I do use Twitter a lot, sometimes facebook, and instagram. I hardly use YouTube though. Is 300 MB enough or should I increase my data plan??? Also. What is data anyway???
