I see that when buying OEM cell phone chargers some claim to have a "smart IC chip" that will prevent "overcharging". Others, do not claim to have such a chip (which I assume means they don't).
I understand the concept behind this, but I'm curious if this IC chip is really a necessity. Should I spend more money on a device claiming to have the chip because it will truly be better for the phone, or is this mostly just a ploy some sellers use to make their product sound better?
Help from anyone with more tech knowledge than me would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!
