Celebrity voice acting or actual voice acting

I thought I would bring up a conversation on voice acting for animation, seemed like a good idea for it anyways. Now I cant seem to find the video but I found a video where a few voice actors who voiced for animation gave their thoughts to Celebrities doing the voice acting in animated films for the cinemas. Now I began to think about it for awhile now, would you say that Celebrities are running out the chances for someone in the animation field to voice act in an animated film? By all means I only know that there are a few good animated films that use celebrities but most of the time they are just hiring them for the cash{dreamworks is obviously a good example of this}. Although Pixar does it as well, but however they look for talent for it. Heck Rob Zombie's El superbeasto had famous people voice acting, although it did have a few voice actors from the animation field voicing minor characters in the film(Havent watched the film in awhile, but I do remember seeing Rob Paulsen's name in the credits}.

Actual voice acting has talent in some ways that are good, but mostly celebrities voice acting doesnt seem to find its way in the right places. I'm not agaisnt celebrities voice acting, but I find it pointless if the character sounds just like the actor which depending on what the character design is I find no fun at. But there are times where a Celebrity's voice acting may be either good or bad. Like for example Vincent Price voices Ratigan, am I the only one who thought this was the right move? Actual voice actors still have work for tv and video games in most cases, but cant say anything about film. So what do u think? Do you prefer voice acting from celebrities or people from the animation field?

As much as I'd love to see movie studios (WB, Fox, Dreamworks- Note that I excluded Disney as they do show some respect) hire Professional voice actors for their films. Especially in lead roles (or at the very least, co-staring roles and the live action Transformers Movies don't count, what being live action and all). You can just keep on dreaming.

Most animation studios, as you said, want to make money, and how you ask? By hiring celebrities in leads, occasionally they'll hire professionals for their main or supporting cast (The Bionicle Quadilogy, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, The Simpsons Movie, Transformers: The Movie, most of Pixar's films and some of Disney's Studio Ghibli dubs, for example) But for the most part, they hire celebrities to do main voice work and actual voice actors as either minor supporting, additional or ADR Voices.

Now If I was to get the major studios to show some respect for Professional Voice actors (and also tell them that I'm also becoming one), I'd probably get laughed at. Unless it's Disney mind you, but that's not the point.

Anyways, I could go on, but I'm getting into rant mode as we speak. So I'm just going to stop here.
