Celebrity Producer?????? WTF

Can someone enlighten me what the hell it means?

We have celebrity this and that and now i see from the end of the rot that is SCD they employ a senior celebrity producer. As if having about eight researchers on the show is bad enough they now have a non person doing a non job.

At a guess I'd say they were the person responsible for booking celebrity guests, etc. I could be wrong though.

This job used to be known as a Celebrity Booker, but the modern trend of uptitling means virtually everyone's a producer!

They are responsible for booking celebs and looking after the talent. It's quite a specialised and competitive job, trying to attract the big stars to your show, and often there's a bit of quid pro quo involved, as in "I know this is a small ITV2 show, but you know I also book for Graham Norton's show..." etc.
