I've noticed that each side (Republican & Democrat) warns us of the taxation on the middle class that will ensue should the other party be elected in November. Both parties, with fingers pointed, tell us that the other party would give a tax break to the upper (financial) class while putting the burden of that tax break on the average American. I always wonder which party is really going to do that. Then I hear all these millionaire celebrities endorsing Obama and I have to ask: Why would all these very rich people support a ticket that would make their taxes higher? Any thoughts?

I know it's unfashionable, but some people really believe that the government provides them with useful services (defense, infrastructure, safety net) and that it's worthwhile to help pay for those things.

Really. It's true.

HollyWEIRD people tend to not care about the taxation as much as they do about saving face regarding whatever political topic is "hot" during the current election. These people tend to have very liberal tendancies when talking in front of a camera to make themselves more likeable. Their viewpoints generally aim very left in that they are very pro-conservationist, anti-war, pro-big government.

However, you have to remember that these peoples sole existance relies on their likeability. The only reason they have a job is because the populace dictates it. Would you see someone as more likelable if they are "for the whales" or "for poaching"? It's obvious, isn't it? These Hollywood types want you to see them as everyday people like you and me. However, they are anything but. Do you make $10,000,000-$25,000,000 for 6 months work? Do you own numerous multi-million dollar homes? Do you vacation in the Hamptons and jet-set to exclusive islands? These people may spout of liberal viewpoints when a camera is in there face, but you have to question their motives for doing so.

In short, don't get, nor base, any of your political views and information from anywhere near Hollywood, regardless or who you support.

Celebrities only place in this world is on tv. They are not the ones you want to run the country. But some people think because they are popular they are right. Anyone paying $28,500.00 to go sit next to a Socialist and eat steak and asparagus should scare anyone to vote the other way.

Great question! I'll give a star for it. I agree, look at who the rich are voting for and you can bet that's the one who will tax the middle class the most!

There was a gathering of information on the conventions and of the Republican's that attended the RNC over 50% made $500,000 a year.

Obama's group was definately middle class people that were glad to see a person standing up for them instead of taking more money away.

OBAMA said he would lower taxes on all the people with a middle income and raise taxes on Big companies that are gouging the american public. The Oil Companies have made huge profits and the gas station owners are barely surviving due to what they are being charged adn the variable rates.

These "millionare celebrities" that support Obama, I suppose you are referring to Hollywood actors and such? They tend to be liberal and tolerant with their thinking.

Besides, McCain has 7 houses, 13 cars, and a net worth over $100 million. No wonder the majority of the wealthy support the guy, they can sure "relate" to him.

First, the President doesn't set the tax rate. Second, if you think your taxes are going anywhere but up with government taking on $1 trillion in bad loans, you're deluded.

I guess you forgot about Arnold, Fred Thompson and do I even need to bring up Reagan...

I f I had to guess I would imagine that theses millionaires probably understand that if the general public is hurting it will only be a matter of time before it trickles up to them. I don’t know about you but if I had to choose between seeing a movie or putting gas in my car to get to work next week, I would probably go with the gas. So they like us have to look at the bigger picture.

Fact is none of the politicians can truly relate to us because they are all wealthy as we want them to be, because if they can’t balance their own finances how can they manage the entire US economy, but we have to decide who will have our best interest at heart and who will change the way things are at this present time.

no rich and powerful celebrities came out in favor of bush and he gave them all kinds of tax breaks. so does it mean anything.... no. obama has said he would tax the higher income people. and if this bailout goes through neither mccain or obama is going to have a choice they will have to raise taxes on the middle class

What makes you think that these celebrities are any smarter than the rest of us. They are people who demand higher pay, and don't know "jack" about anything more than we do.
